March, Currently

She returns! I’ve had this blog for almost two years now and I’ve done next to nothing with it. So let’s try something new – no promises of more content, but hopefully a steady slew of recently read reviews to be included. I was hoping to expand topics but for now I’ll stick with book reviews and see where that takes me.

What I Read, January-March

Currently ReadingThe Goldfinch by Donna Tartt; The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson; The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine; and The Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea by Maggie Tokuda-Hall

My reading goals for 2020 are simple: just read. I set my GoodReads reading challenge at 12 books, hoping to get through at least 12 books on my To-Be-Read list done. I’ll also be removing books I’m no longer interested in. My goal is to get it to a more manageable amount (100 or less) rather than over 300. I’ve removed about 50 books so far, mostly from my Master’s thesis days, and I’ve decided to not mindlessly add trilogies where I have not read the first book already no matter how flattering the reviews are!

I’ve also created a “to-be-read 2020” section, which includes books nominated for the GoodReads 2019 Awards. In addition to the twelve book goal and cleaning up by TBR list, I’m hoping to diversify what I read a bit more and expand the genres.

I’m slowly getting my way through two larger books – The Way of Kings and The Goldfinch. Before COVID-19, I had a few long-haul trips that I hoped would help me (a) put a dent in either of these reads or (b) push me to finish. Hoping to read a decent amount of each of these long reads in the next few months!

Currently Listening, The Office Ladies

I adore The Office. It is my go-to, don’t know what to watch but need something background show. The mindless chit-chat between best friends Jenna and Angela, along with the behind the scenes facts are a welcome part of my “commuting” to work routine. Be that in the car, or as I putz around the kitchen before hunkering down on my laptop.

Currently Watching, The Office (Netflix), The Mandalorian (Disney+)

Trying to stay away from binging shows in one sitting. But we are still slowly chipping away at the Mandalorian. J (husband) and I are working on a list of shows we keep talking about watching and then never watching.

Currently Adventuring, nowhere!

I’m working from home for the foreseeable future which means I won’t be getting out much. We had to cancel our family trip to Turks & Caicos, hopefully we will be able to reschedule for Summer/Fall 2020.

before the shutdown I was on a work trip to Denver. Hoping to write up some recommendations for when travel restrictions lift.

Currently, Other Things

Looking for something fun? These 12 Museums are offering virtual tours! For nature enthusiasts, 33 National Park tours!

This bagel recipe is getting me through working from home. Made plain, everything and cinnamon-sugar. All of her bread related recipes are easy to do even if you are not a great cook/baker. Highly recommend her book too!

Hope everyone is well and safe during this strange time!
